The key to a smooth move is organization. Based on our years of experience, we have created a list of some helpful suggestions below.

We understand that moving can be a hectic time, please refer to the moving tips below to ease your moving preparation: (You may also feel free to contact any of our relocation specialists to assist you with any questions or concerns.)

PLEASE PRINT FOR YOUR REFERENCE:

Basic Concerns:


 Get rid of anything you aren't bringing with you.
 Find out where to dispose of household chemicals like old paint.
 Make a list of everything you are bringing to your new home.
 Fill out a change of address form with the US Postal Service. Notify family, friends, and others of your new address.
 Fill out IRS change of address form.
 Get copies of your medical and dental records. If you have pets be
 sure to get copies of their medical records as well.
 If moving out of state, be sure to check about auto licensing and insurance.
 Notify banks, credit card companies, magazine subscriptions, and rental companies of the up coming move.
 Notify kids' schools and have their records transferred to the new schools, also request a copy for just in case purposes.

5 Weeks prior to move:


 Review all information regarding new home to make sure all points have been covered.
 Chosen your mover and signed the Order for Service
 Sort through basement, loft, and/or garage.
 Make proper provisions for transporting pets.

3 Weeks prior to move:


 Make arrangements to disconnect gas, electric, and other utilities.
 Make arrangements to connect gas, electric, and other utilities at your new home.
 Start to put personal items on the side that you are transporting with you personally.
 Find new homes for your plants.
 Separate all flammables, these will need to be discarded, according to Department of Transportation Regulation, flammable items as well as chemicals may not be transported across state lines on van line trucks. ( All flammable materials are considered Hazardous Materials)
 Return Library books.

7 Days Prior to Move:


 Plan simple meals for moving day to avoid using appliances.
 Check that you have enough medication for at least two weeks, and ensure you have copies of prescriptions.
 Collect travelers' checks or local currency.
 Arrange for someone to look after your children on the moving date.

The Day before Moving:


 Collect all keys to locking items put them in a safe place.
 Empty, defrost, and clean refrigerator. Make sure it has at least 24 hours to air dry.
 Take down curtains and anything that is hidden from the eye, so not to forget it.
 Get a good nights rest.

MOVING DAY:


 First and foremost relax; you have a dependable team with you that will ensure a stress free relocation.
 Strip all beds, but leave them intact. We will disassemble them for you.
 Make sure you are home when the movers arrive.
 Keep your signed Bill of Lading as well as all other documents give to you.
 Present the mover with any coupons that apply to your move.
 Make sure the driver has the correct delivery address and phone number.
 Before leaving do a final walk through of every room. Check all closets and cabinets.
